Joy and celebration filled the Friday night air on the campus of Reformation Bible College. Hundreds of students, faculty, and alumni gathered together, along with close ministry partners, to celebrate the 2019-20 Convocation as well as the RBC Building Dedication. While the night began with tours of the new building and classrooms, attendees eventually gathered in the chapel where a powerful bagpipe prelude truly set the stage for the unforgettable and historic evening.
After RBC President Dr. Stephen Nichols called together and welcomed those in attendance, Ligonier teaching fellow Dr. Sinclair Ferguson delivered a powerful convocation address to the largest incoming RBC class to date. Dr. Ferguson, echoing the Apostle Paul’s words to a young Timothy, charged the student body to hold fast to the good deposit entrusted to them in the gospel, to “live lives marked by fidelity, sanctity, and orthodoxy, willing to go anywhere and do anything and suffer anything in order to be faithful to Jesus Christ.”

The night continued with Ligonier President Chris Larson remembering the dream of RBC’s founder and first President Dr. R.C. Sproul for a building and campus that would meet the needs of students and faculty while cultivating a community of discipleship. All in attendance were blessed to hear a recording from Dr. Sproul describing his vision for the college, which Larson described as Dr. Sproul’s “greatest joy” in his ministry.
Ligonier teaching fellow and board chairman Dr. Robert Godfrey spoke on behalf of the board as he pledged a commitment by the institution to remain faithful to the good deposit entrusted to it. Dr. Godfrey admonished all hearers to pray to that end. Afterward, Dr. Nichols officially dedicated the new RBC building and campus as an academic space, a place of “eternal consequence” where beauty, truth, and goodness would be honored, studied, proclaimed and defended for the glory and worship of our holy God.
The historic night ended with Dr. Nichols leading the RBC professors in their faculty vows, as they committed to uphold with fidelity the academic tasks set before them. Dr. John Tweeddale then ended the evening with a prayer of dedication for the academic year. It was a night of thankfulness and gratitude as those in attendance got to see firsthand the kindness of the Lord and the realization of Dr. Sproul’s vision come to life.
